About Tuscola Conservation District
Our Mission
The Tuscola Conservation District is committed to assisting the residents of Tuscola County with the management of our Natural Resources in a sustainable way through education and implementation of conservation practices.
History
On March 13, 1943, several landowners in Elkland, Elmwood, Ellington, Almer, Juniata, and Indianfields township petitioned for the creation of the Tuscola Conservation District. The first board of directors included: Dorr Perry, Erwin Zemke, R. Lester Hill, Bruce Brown, and Walter Goodall. On February 4, 1944, Dean Gordon became the first Federal employee. Today the district has five employees that include: District Manager, Conservation Technician/Education Coordinator, MAEAP Technician, Drill Technician, and Wildlife Biologist.
Your Natural Resources are our priority. The District Staff and Board of Directors would like to invite you to take advantage of the many programs and products available from the District. We are located at the USDA Service Center at 1075 Cleaver Road in Caro, Michigan. Our phone number is 989-673-8174, ext 3.
